Piedmont Measure GG: Another blank check for politicians.
Measure GG will increase costs to those buying or selling a home at a time when everything is already getting more expensive. Piedmonters are satisfied with city facilities as they are, but Measure GG contains a loophole to allow politicians to spend the money on whatever they want with no guardrails.
MEASURE GG WILL
- Make Piedmont’s transfer tax the highest flat rate in California
- Add $64,000 or more to the cost of buying or selling a home
- Continue forever, with no opportunity for voters to end or reduce it
MEASURE GG WILL NOT:
- HELP FIRST-TIME HOMEBUYERS. It will significantly increase the up-front cost of purchasing a home.
- MAKE PIEDMONT MORE AFFORDABLE. It will drive up home prices at a time when they are already out of reach for many families.
- GUARANTEE FUNDING for any specific purpose; the money raised by this tax can be spent however PIEDMONT’s politicians choose.
PIEDMONT can’t afford Measure GG. Vote NO by November 3.
